Inktober is over, but #yukoinkingtips are here to stay

Inktober 2017 just ended. Did you participate? Did you have a blast? Were you able to use some of the tips you’ve learned from my class? Well, I hope you did!

During this month’s Inktober, I decided to post some tips on my Instagram whenever I had chance.
Some of the things I had posted were covered in my Skillshare inking class or more detailed version of them, and others are new tips.
I just sorted all the inking tips there by hashtag #YUKOINKINGTIPS. Now, you can refer to them anytime you like, October or not.

My Instagram handle is @yukoart . You can go to https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/yukoinkingtips/
eI will keep posting inking and drawing tips whenever I can from here on and keep sorting them with the same hashtag.
Happy November to you all.

UPDATE (October 14): Thank you. This special offer has ended. However, you can still watch both my classes as well as hundreds of other classes with extended special trial offer. Explore and sign up here.

Inktober is in full swing. My Skillshare inking class just became free for one week!
It is an online video class I made with Skillshare a few years back, and still very popular, especially every October. We have decided to release this video class for free for anyone to watch at his/her convenience between now and Friday, October 13, 2017. (ends on 11:59EST).
Total length of the video is about an hour and half. I talk about materials, surfaces, all the basics for beginners as well as tips and tricks that may be useful for even experienced inkers.
Please take advantage of this offer. We would love more people to enjoy and learn from the class.
Please watch the video here before the free offer expires!

See you at airports in Asia: SK-II Art of Travel package release

I had secretly worked on these images between end of last year and the first couple of months of this year. And the cat is out of the bag.
Skincare brand SK-II has just released site specific special travel packaging in six different areas in Asia.
These travel packs are available only in the airport duty free shops, each of six areas have designated design.
You can also ask for the postcard sets at SK-II counter, that include all six images.
Next time you travel, please look for them at airports in these six areas.

collaboration with Team McGregor + David August for McGregor vs Mayweather fight

The cat (or the tiger?) is out of the bag.
Recent collaboration with bespoke clothing brand David August for McGregor vs Mayweather fight (August 27, 2017) is finally official.
David August was designing the whole Team McGregor outfit (including Conor McGregor himself, of course!) for the event, and asked me to illustrate a tiger head inspired by McGregor’s new tattoo. As you can see in David August and their marketing director Michael Montanez’s Instagram photos, the image was used on the team corner crew’s custom vests during the event.
Art direction was by Thomas O’Quinn of OQuinn Design.
Thank you David August and Tom O’Quinn for this great opportunity!

new class on SKILLSHARE

It’s FINALLY here! I’ve finally made a new class available on SKILLSHARE, 3 years after the initial launch of ink drawing class.

This time, I am teaching a (basic) drawing class. Not the conventional uptight kind though.
I have been wanting to teach a class where it is, most importantly, about having fun, and learn along the way.
I have been teaching one-day drawing workshop for the last 2-3 years, and have been adjusting the curriculum. Now I feel it is in the closest to what I have envisioned it to be. So, here it is!

Hope you consider enrolling in the class when you have some free time. Maybe picking up a new hobby this summer?
For your friends who are new to Skillshare, they can take advantage of limited time 60 day free offer through my referral link: skl.sh/yuko so, pass it along!

Look good & feel great. T shirt proceeds that help scholarships

I recently attended Beyond Tellerrand, a web conference that runs great events and workshops in multiple cities around Germany. (The event I went was in Dusseldorf in May. I spoke and conducted a workshop there.) I also designed this event’s T-shirt which was given away to all the attendees and staff.

They have some T-shirts stock left, and currently selling them for just €15 on their online store.
The proceeds will help fund ‘scholarship tickets’ for their future events, to give away tickets for those who cannot afford to attend otherwise. Thank you for helping this great event.
You can purchase my t-shirts in two different colors, both men and women sizes, while supplies last. There are other designs from past events also available. Purchase link here.

there is still time to order the Oscar Wilde book. Kickstarter ends on June 16

Update (June 17, 2017): The Kickstarter campaign was completed successfully. Thank you for your pledge. For now pre-order has ended but the books may become available in the future date. I will announce more details then.

A successfully funded Kickstarter campaign by Beehive Books will end on June 16, and you have still time to pledge and preorder the books, prints and other goodies available.

Illuminated Editions is the newest project by Beehive Books (one of the guys behind that Eisner Award winning Little Nemo book). Idea is to come up with a  modern take on turn of the century illustrated literature. The first set of three books are The Willows (written by Algernon Blackwood) illustrated by Paul Pope, The Island of Doctor Moreau (written by H.G.Wells) illustrated by Bill Sienkiewicz, and Oscar Wilde’s Fairly Tales illustrated by me.

The kickstarter campaign was run in three separate goals, $50,000 to fund Paul Pope book first, then $75,000 to fund mine, then finally $100,000 to fund Bill Sienkiewicz.
Now the campaign is fully funded, you can pre-order any of, or all of the books in different editions (single digital edition starts at $30, a book starts at $65), or get postcard set ($20), prints ($100) and other goodies. (There is my original drawing as pledge reward as well.)

Hope you pledge and pre-order your book(s). The kickstarter campaign must end on Friday, June 16, 2017, 11:59PM EST
